For the second year in a row, Silversea has been named "Best Cruise Line" at the Guardian and Observer Travel Awards! Silversea took the top spot from a field of 17 nominated cruise lines.
The winners of this year's Travel Awards were announced at a gala awards presentation that took place at Cardiff Castle in Wales on Saturday, 9 October. The winners in 22 categories of travel were chosen by readers who completed a survey that appeared in the Saturday edition of the Guardian for three weeks and was live on guardian.co.uk for eight weeks. Founded in 1821, the Guardian is one of the UK's leading broadsheet newspapers.
Gemma Bowes, acting travel editor for the Guardian (left) and the ceremony's host, BBC News anchorman Huw Edwards, presented the award to Trudy Redfern, Silversea vice president for UK, Ireland and Middle East.
This is the fourth major UK travel award Silversea has picked up since early September. It comes on the heels of being selected "Best Luxury Cruise Line" by the travel agent members of Elite Travel Group. Prior to that, Silversea was voted "Star Luxury Cruise Company" by the travel agent readers of Travel Bulletin, a UK trade publication, and "Best Small Ship Cruise Line" by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller, UK edition.
We are delighted and deeply honoured to receive such wonderful recognition.
