Silver Cloud will welcome Luca Buccellati, of the legendary jewellers' family Buccellati, on board her 13 October sailing. He will present a rare exhibition of one-of-a-kind jewellery creations.
Sharing in Silversea's rich Italian heritage, the Buccellati family, who opened their first boutique in Milan nearly a century ago, continues to design exquisite pieces with unparalleled craftsmanship.
Buccellati creations have been exhibited at such prestigious galleries as the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, where this month the Smithsonian Cup, a chalice crafted by Gianmaria Buccellati, is back on display. For more than a decade, it had been on loan to several institutions, but can now be viewed in the museum's Janet Annenberg Hooker Hall of Geology, Gems and Minerals.
During Silver Cloud's nine-day eastern Mediterranean cruise, Silversea guests will enjoy intriguing lectures and view displays of rare jewellery pieces. And, as an exclusive benefit, guests will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to custom-design their own piece of exquisite jewellery with a member of the Buccellati family.
The voyage sails roundtrip from Istanbul with calls in Kavala, Thessaloniki, Volos (gateway to the famous rock towers and monasteries of Meteora), Athens (Piraeus), Izmir, Constanza, and Nessebur, and includes passage through the historic Dardanelles and Bosphorus.
